Elden Ring: How To Find (& Beat) The Dragonkin Soldier Of Nokstella

Quick Links

In Elden Ring the Dragonkin Soldier of Nokstella is a Great Enemy Boss that resides in a spacious lagoon south of Nokstella, Eternal City, in the subterranean region of Ainsel River. Yet, despite having “Nokstella” in its title, the Dragonkin Soldier’s lair is not connected with the Eternal City but accessible through the lower portion of the region, enterable via the Ainsel River Well in Liurna of the Lakes. As a result, Tarnished do not need to progress through Ranni’s questline to encounter Nokstella’s hidden boss.

Defeating the Dragonkin Soldier of Nokstella in Elden Ring rewards players with 12,000 Runes, Frozen Lightning Spear, and a secret in-game achievement/trophy. Frozen Lightning Spear is a Dragon Cult Incantation that is exceptionally flashy but only effective against trash mob groups or large, slow-moving enemies. Nevertheless, it can be quite practical in the early game for Faith users, as long as their opponent doesn’t possess a small hitbox or isn’t skilled in dodging ranged abilities.

Dragonkin Soldier of Nokstella Location

To get to the Dragonkin Soldier of Nokstella’s location, Tarnished travelers must make their way to the Ainsel River Well in West Liurnia. Starting from the Church of Vows, head down the slope towards the Eastern Tableland Grace Site. Continue down the path west to the ridge along the coastline.

After riding down to Ainsel River, follow the river downstream to the South Uhl Palace Ruins. Be mindful of the Giant Ants that hang from the ceiling throughout the tunnels. Tarnished can either cross through the Ainsel River Sluice Gate’s lift or enter the Queen Ant’s lair to reach the Ainsel River Downstream Grace point. After getting past the hostile Clayman mobs, stay near the small ridge to avoid being hit by the Malformed Star’s meteorites. After reaching a small ant nest in the west, head directly north to arrive at the Dragonkin’s boss cave.

Dragonkin Soldier of Nokstella Boss Fight

A Dragonkin Soldier roaring at the Tarnished in Elden Ring.

To easily beat the Dragonkin Soldier of Nokstella boss fight in Elden Ring, Tarnished can employ a simple strategy. After entering the arena, the Dragonkin Soldier will fall from above, bellowing with aggression. During its roar, players should rush behind its left side to situate themselves at the boss’ back left knee. The Dragonkin Soldier cannot reach its target in this position, only using arm swings while spinning about.

It’s crucial to keep the target lock off during this time while keeping the camera fixed on the player character. Continue attacking the back of its leg while being spun around behind its backside to cheese the Dragonkin Soldier of Nokstella boss with ease. Once the Dragonkin Soldier is dead, Tarnished challengers will receive one of Elden Ring’s secret achievements, 12,000 Runes, and the Frozen Lightning Spear incantation.
