Dwyane Wade opens up about why he and his family moved to California from Florida.
The 41-year-old former NBA star, who played for the Miami Heat as a point guard, spoke to People about leaving Florida behind to go to the opposite side of the country with his wife, Gabrielle Union, and their shared children.

It wasn’t because of his lack of love for Florida, Dwyane says, but rather because of the right decision for his family at the time.
“When we had to decide what the next step was for our family as we got a little closer, we had to think about our family and what it looked like and how we wanted our kids to feel, what we wanted them to do. see daily.”
He added that “Florida was no longer for us at that point.”
Dwyane notes that California is a better state as a whole to raise his daughter, Zaya, who came out as transgender in 2020.
It was the “ideal location for everything it represents and the community that is represented here.”
Last month, Dwyane was inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame.
