Drew said in a statement (via Variety), “I have listened to the writers and, to truly respect them, I will stop hosting the MTV Movie & TV Awards live in solidarity with the strike. Everything we celebrate and honor about film and television is born from its creation. And until a solution is reached, I choose to wait, but I will be watching from home and I hope you will join me. I thank MTV, who have truly been some of the best partners I’ve ever worked with. And I can’t wait to be a part of this next year, when I can really celebrate everything that MTV has created, which is a show that allows fans to choose who the awards go to and is truly inclusive.” resubmit the 2024 program.
The site also reports that there will be no red carpet or talent interviews as a result of the strike. It remains to be seen which stars will appear or if they too will sympathize with the writers.
