Rao was born on Friday, 31 August 1951 (age 68 years; as in 2019) in Hyderabad. His zodiac sign is Virgo. He completed his schooling from St. Joseph’s Indian High School. He attended Kasturba Medical College and Bangalore Medical College in Manipal for his MBBS and MD degrees (Medicine and Cardiology) respectively. Later, they also adopted FAGE, FICA and FAIID.

He belongs to a South Indian family. His father’s name is BS Rama Rao and mother’s name is Shakuntala Rao. His parents are from West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.
He is married to Hema Rao and has two sons – Charit Bhograj and Abhijeet Bhograj. Charit is a cardiologist and Abhijeet is an endocrinologist.
livelihood
On 15 August 1973, Rao’s father started a clinic for him. His clinic is located in T. Begur (a rural area), 35 km from Bangalore (Bangalore-Pune National Highway).
He visits his clinic every Sunday and organizes free check-up camps there. He provides free medicines and food to the patients. He works with an efficient team including his wife and two sons.
His clinic is considered one of the longest running free clinics in the world. Since 1973, he has treated approximately 1.4 million patients and has been running this clinic for over 44 years.
Controversy
Dr. B. Raman Rao had filed a case against Hemant Kashyap, who worked in Kannada news channel Public TV, for blackmailing him to give money. 50 lakhs. Hemant threatened her to leak her private videos on a TV channel. He had extorted money. He was demanding Rs 5 lakh and more money from Dr. Rao.
