Facts/General Knowledge
- Talking about Divyansh during an interview, his father said,
When he was a kid, I used to take aim at the walls of my house and they would shoot from the plastic gun. The same year, Divyansh won a state medal and his interest in sports increased. We got him a new rifle and a pair of shoes before he left for Delhi for training under Deepak Sir. We scolded him for playing online games and ironically, we watched his final in Beijing online. Like most teenagers, he wasted time playing PUBG instead of focusing on his training or studies and I would often scold him. But let me tell you, after winning the medal today, he must have played a round of PUBG.
- Divyansh always keeps a book of ‘Shrimad Bhagavad Geeta’ in his pocket. Talking about Divyansh in an interview, his coach said,
He now knows how to control himself and sees shooting as a video game, which he plays once a week. We have taught him breath control techniques and he has a small pocketbook of the Gita. His dream is to win Olympic gold.”
- In an interview, Divyansh while talking about his interest in studies said,
Studies have never been a priority for me. I was just about to pass my exam. Been distracted for a long time (I haven’t thought about studying for a while now). Last year, I almost passed my final exams. But now I am in 12th so I have to be a little more serious. But to be honest, I am not interested in studies at all. But that’s all I do to pass the exam.”
- His idol is the famous Indian shooter Abhinav Bindra.
- When he was performing in a qualifying match at the GV Mavalankar tournament in 2014, his father promised to show him films that would match his score above 390. Divyansh scored 390, but he holed two extra holes to watch movies. Aim with the help of a screwdriver.
- On debuting in senior level shooting competition in 2017, he said,
become mentally strong [I have to become mentally strong], I need to focus on technique, as soon as I forget my technique I stop hitting inner 10s. Need to improve a lot mentally [because] The basics I already know, but I need to work on my mental game, I haven’t worked on that aspect yet.
- Talking about him in an interview, his junior coach Deepali Deshpande said,
Divyansh is “anti-social” and hates conversation. He keeps to himself, talks little and is not social. He is a typical back-bencher who doesn’t say much in classes. But he is a very confident boy.”
- Amidst the Corona virus epidemic, he practiced shooting at his coach Deepak Dubey’s flat in Faridabad, Haryana. Dubey said in an interview,
I realized that if I cleared out my two rooms and a lobby in between, we could get a distance of 10 meters to get a clear shot at the target. I stuck all the yellow cards, the light is also good, I checked with L, the light is also good, I checked with lux meter. So there is no problem for training.”
- According to Deepak Kumar Dubey (Divyansh’s coach), Divyansh’s stance during shooting is different from others due to which he can get serious injury. Talking about this during an interview, Deepak said,
Everyone has told me about Asana. Every walking person speaks. But until I get to the point where I have no choice but to change it, I won’t do it. I tried to change this some time back in 2018 at a national camp. But I was not comfortable in that situation. When he was young he was very thin. At least he has some strength now. What happens is that when these children are small, they either do not have muscles or the muscles lack strength. Then they have to rely on their bone structure. His posture evolved from there.
he adds,
Initially, we tried to correct his posture. But later, we felt that it looks so good on her, so why change it. We just made sure he was safe from any injuries. Now he has made his fitness according to that situation.”
