In Rock Hill, South Carolina, Dianne Gallagher joined the CN2 network to start her career in television. Prior to leaving the network to join WCNC in Charlotte, she worked as the network’s anchor and reporter.

Two senior law enforcement officials with direct knowledge of the case claim that the 26-year-old son of a retired Manhattan Supreme Court judge allegedly beat his mother to death, possibly with a bed lamp, before apparently killing himself by jumping from the family’s opulent Upper East Side building.
According to the officials, the judge, Charles Solomon, told police that he arrived at work on Tuesday about 8:30 a.m. He claimed that when he left their East 79th Street house, his son Doug Solomon and wife Diane Gallagher were both sound asleep in their respective beds.
About two hours after Doug Solomon’s jump, their bodies were found.
Both his mother and he had no prior criminal records. Senior law enforcement officials claimed that Charles Solomon admitted to detectives that he and Doug were not close but that Doug was close to his mother. He added that the previous evening, he and his wife had talked about their son’s future.
It wasn’t clear whether the talk might have resulted in a dispute between the mother and son the following day. No conceivable reason has been disclosed.
According to top law enforcement sources, Charles Solomon told authorities that his son struggled in college, dropped out, then became increasingly involved in alcohol and marijuana in recent years. But he claimed that Doug had no known psychiatric history and that his son was not taking any medication for psychiatric conditions.
Additionally, according to the authorities, Charles Solomon told investigators that Doug and Diane had never had any prior domestic disputes.
On Wednesday, they provided disturbing new information about the fatalities, claiming that Diane Gallagher had suffered serious blunt force injuries to her head and face. According to senior law enforcement sources, she had a large cut on her forehead and behind her right ear.
According to them, there were indications of trauma that might have resulted from being suffocated or from a severe blow to the head. Her body was discovered adjacent to a bedroom lamp, which is thought to have been the murder weapon.
Around 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Doug Solomon jumped from a great height and was pronounced dead there. The authorities claimed that he had numerous abrasions on him that were consistent with the kind of wounds he may have had when attempting to fit his body through a small bedroom window.
