Lance Reddick, who provides the voice of Destiny 2‘s Zavala, delighted fans by reading a meme that is exclusive to the online-only multiplayer. Destiny 2 first released in 2017 and has experienced highs and lows ever since. Bungie’s decision to introduce free-to-play has led to plenty of new players who are eager to discover all that the game has to offer. In many ways, Destiny 2 has managed to outperform its predecessor with its encompassing narrative. The game’s Beyond Light expansion has provided fans with some of the best narrative moments in the entire series while also exploring the history of Eramis and Variks. Initially, the expansion was viewed in a positive light as players got the chance to explore the frosty moon Europa to interact more frequently with the Exo Stranger. Destiny 2 has also featured multiple seasons, with each intended to progress the storyline by gradually introducing new twists, characters and defining moments.
The latest season, “Season of the Chosen”, dropped five days ago. It is slated to run until May 11, 2021. The new season features new Strikes, weapon possibilities and a new game-mode called Battlegrounds. The game’s previous season, titled “Season of the Hunt”, included the redemption of the much-maligned character Uldren Sov. Sov is now known as Crow. This did not go down particularly well with some players. The season highlighted the efforts of the Exo Stranger and his effort to assist the Guardians in controlling the Darkness and utilizing its Stasis power.
Destiny 2 features a variety of unique voice actors. The popular character Zavala, known as being a tenacious Titan Vanguard in the Destiny canon, is voiced by the actor Lance Reddick. Reddick recently recorded a video of himself reading aloud a meme that is all too familiar to Destiny fans. The meme is influenced by the recent Season of the Chosen trailer. The trailer shows Empress Caiatl proposing an alliance with the Guardians. The video includes Zavala, who responds to the idea of an alliance with a terse, “No.” Meanwhile, the meme does a deep dive into the setting of the story, exploring the underlying reasons why Zavala would not be interested in teaming up. The meme itself is a bit long-winded but it is definitely entertaining to listen as Reddick makes the most of his distinctive voice to delight Destiny fans.
While players have surely enjoyed the beautiful setting of Europa, thrilling narrative moments and a well-balanced weapon control scheme, many Destiny 2 players have been feeling underwhelmed. This is in large part down to Bungie’s decision to cut massive chunks of in-game content and adding an expiration date on portions of the game that were left untouched. This means a large share of players has less content to enjoy, compounded by a dire lack of loot available.
Destiny 2‘s latest season should help to alleviate some of these concerns for the time being. “Season of the Chosen” is primed to help players who are looking for new challenges and content. The brand-new Battlegrounds game mode will be central to this.
