Deepak Boxer is an Indian boxer and gangster, considered one of India’s most wanted fugitives, accused of several murders, robberies and extortion. In 2023, he was caught with the help of the American investigative agency Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and arrested in Mexico City by the Special Cell of Delhi Police.

Deepak Pahal studied till 10th class and started training as an amateur boxer at the age of 13. 
He grew up idolizing Indian professional boxer Vijender Singh Beniwal, hailing from Haryana, and dreamed of competing in the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics. When Deepak made it to the Junior India Boxing team, he expressed his desire to become a professional boxer to his coach Anil Malik and said,
Coach sir, I just wanted the name.”

He started boxing on 29 November 2008 at the age of 12. At the age of 15 he became national junior level champion. He was appointed as a boxing trainee by the Sports Authority of India in 2009. Deepak was awarded the Best Loser Award in the 24th Sub-Junior Haryana State Boxing Championship 2008–09. He won gold medals at the 37th Junior Men’s Haryana State Boxing Championship 2011, 27th Junior Men’s National Boxing Championship 2011 and 39th Junior Men’s State Boxing Championship 2013. He won a silver medal in the 27th Sub-Junior Men Haryana State Boxing Championship. 2012. He won the Best Boxer Award in the 39th Junior Men State Boxing Championship at Ganaur, Sonipat Haryana 2013. At the age of just 16, he stopped fighting after losing a match and gave up athletics due to minor fights with other boxers.

Around 2014, Deepak came in contact with Mohit Panchhi, a local criminal who was associated with Jitendra Mann alias Gogi. Later, he was also linked to the Gogi gang run by Jitendra Gogi and the Lawrence Bishnoi gang run by Lawrence Bishnoi. In 2016, Panipat police had arrested Gogi, but within three months of his arrest, he escaped when he was going to court for hearing in a case. Subsequently, Deepak was arrested for being one of the 10 people who had helped Gogi escape. In 2017, Deepak was released from jail on bail but he continued his criminal activities. It is said that Deepak used to handle the illegal business of Gogi gang and later he became the leader of the gang. On 25 March 2021, Deepak led the Gogi group, which was involved in a shootout with Delhi Police personnel at GTB Hospital, and helped Gogi’s associate Kuldeep Maan alias Fajja escape from police custody; Fazza lost his life in that police firing. According to the police, Deepak had also worked with Canada-based gangster Goldie Brar, who had claimed responsibility for the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. A police officer revealed in an interview that Deepak was involved in four murder cases after Gogi was granted parole.
His name has been disclosed by an accused in four cases. He, along with another member named Hemant, runs the gang and is accused of murdering rivals and witnesses to their cases.
Accusation of murder of Amit Gupta
On August 23, 2022, hotelier and realtor Amit Gupta was shot dead by Deepak Boxer’s men in North Delhi’s Civil Lines area of Burari. After being on the run for several months, Deepak claimed in a Facebook post that he had murdered Gupta and that the murder was motivated by revenge rather than extortion. Deepak Boxer further claimed in a Facebook post that the death was linked to gang financier Tillu Tajpuria, a well-known rival of the Gogi gang. According to his post, he was murdered in this very situation. It was further said in the social media post that Amit Gupta had told Gogi gang leader Kuldeep Maan alias Fajja about the conversation held with him by the Special Cell. Apart from this, Gogi dacoit Deepak Boxer openly said in a social media post that all those involved in Tillu will have to face consequences.

arrested in mexico
Deepak fled India in January 2023 by making a fake passport in the name of Ravi Antil from Bareilly and attempted to enter the United States illegally through Mexico. Reportedly, he was planning to run his gang’s illegal operations from the US. Delhi Police revealed that Deepak was helped in reaching Mexico by his cousin Sandeep, who lives in California. Deepak first fled from Kolkata to Dubai and went to Mexico via Almaty, Kazakhstan, Turkey and Spain. The address on the passport was Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh.

Under the direction of Special Commissioner Hargobinder Singh Dhaliwal (known as HGS), Special Cell, a team was assembled to find Deepak. As soon as Delhi Police learned that Deepak was in Mexico, they asked the Mexican government to deport him. The Indian Embassy in Mexico City worked with Delhi Police to ensure the speedy deportation of Deepak before any legal challenges from his criminal network. A team of experienced field officers was also sent to Mexico City to coordinate with the embassy, Mexican authorities, police, and FBI.

- The arrest of Deepak Pahal is considered to be the first operation in the history of Delhi Police in which an Indian criminal was arrested outside the country.
- Deepak was once suspended for punching a player. Even after this, Deepak tried to get a job through sports quota but he failed and got involved in criminal activities.
- In 2018, Delhi Police imposed the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCCA) against him as he had become a key member of Gogi’s gang.
- When Deepak became a vicious criminal, his parents abandoned him and published in the newspaper that they had nothing to do with him.
