Dayalan Hemalatha is an Indian cricketer who has played many international matches for the Indian national team and played many domestic tournaments for Tamil Nadu. She signed up with Gujarat Giants for the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) in 2023.

Dayalan Hemalatha was born on Thursday, 29 September 1994 (age 28 years; as of 2022) in the Alwarthirunagar suburb of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Her zodiac sign is Libra. She played cricket during her childhood with the boys in her neighbourhood and played kho kho, volleyball, and athletics. She studied at Dr K K Nirmala Girls Higher Secondary School in Chennai. She later completed a master’s degree of arts in human resource management from M.O.P Vaishnav College for Women in Chennai. She decided to become a professional cricketer at the age of 17 and started training under the coach Peter Fernandez at the MAC Spin Foundation. She gradually became an opening batter from an off-spin bowler.

Domestic
In 2011, she started playing for the under-19 Tamil Nadu team. In 2012, she played for the under-19 South Zone and the senior South Zone team. She played for the senior Tamil Nadu team till the 2019-2020 season. In the 2020-21 season, she started playing for Indian Railways. In the 2022-23 season, she was a member of Indian Railways which won the Senior T20 Trophy, Central Zone which won the Interzonal Trophy, and India-D which won the Challenger Trophy.

ODI
She played her debut ODI match on 11 September 2018 against Sri Lanka at Galle, Sri Lanka. On 13 September 2018, she scored 35 runs against Sri Lanka. On 21 September 2022, she took 2 wickets for 6 runs against England in Canterbury, England.
T20I
She played her debut T20I match on 9 November 2018 against New Zealand at Providence in the 2018 T20 World Cup and scored 15 runs and took 3 wickets for 26 runs. In the 2018 T20 World Cup, she scored 21 runs in 5 matches at an average of 4.2 and took 5 wickets. She was a member of the team which won the T20 Asia Cup 2022.
Indian Leagues
In 2019 and 2020, she played for Trailblazers in the Women’s T20 Challenge tournament. In the 2023 auction of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), she was acquired by Gujarat Giants for Rs 30 lakhs.

- When she told her parents about her decision to become a professional cricketer, they did not agree with her and wanted her to do a stable job; however, when she was selected for the Tamil Nadu under-19 team, they started to support her wholeheartedly.
