David Beckham sues Mark Wahlberg’s fitness company for $10 million

David Beckham is going after Mark Wahlberg’s F45 fitness company for $10 million over a failed business deal.

According to The Sun, the famous soccer star had reached an agreement with F45 that generated less money than expected. His company, DB Ventures Ltd, claims in the lawsuit that fitness brand Wahlberg “deceived” him into signing the deal.

Wahlberg currently holds a 36% stake in F45 and also serves as the company’s chief brand officer. David Beckham reportedly became close to the actor when he moved to California to play for the LA Galaxy. He also became a global ambassador for F45.

However, Beckham claimed that things were not working out with the F45. The well-known athlete also never claimed that they never paid him the 10 million dollars that they promised him. TMZ reports that F45 shares had fallen prior to Beckham’s lawsuit.

David Beckham has since deleted all social media posts dedicated to the F45.

Meanwhile, Wahlberg’s fitness brand has sought to have the lawsuit dismissed, calling it “fraudulent.” However, the judge stated that the cast would move forward.

According to their website, F45 “fuses” three fitness training styles into one 45-minute functional training class.

“With every session, you’ll experience the elite-proven benefits of combining high-intensity interval training (HIIT), circuit training, and functional training to give you the results you’re looking for,” the company states. “All in just under an hour.”

Along with David Beckham, Terrell Owens previously filed a lawsuit against F45 for $700,000 in 2017. At the time, the F45 co-CEO previously stated that he was going to countersue the NFL star after he “started a fight with the company wrong.”

F45 also claimed at the time that Owens had lied in the lawsuit. “We are not a company that does not pay our bills.”

Golf star Greg Norman also filed a lawsuit against F45.

David Beckham once said he felt in the “best shape” he had felt since his retirement thanks to F45 workouts.

In a promo for the 2021 F45, David Beckham praised the company for its intense training.

“I feel in the best shape I have felt since I retired from the game. [soccer]” Beckham stated, according to daily mail. “And that’s through F45.”

David Beckham also noted that he had been a fan of the F45 franchise and the training model since it was introduced by his then-friend, Mark Wahlberg.

“Health and fitness have always been a big part of my life,” he continued. “And since my days playing [soccer]I have always found that I am better when I train as part of a team. F45 has a strong community and trainers to help you reach your goals and achieve powerful results.”

David Beckham added that the partnership is an “exciting business venture” for him. “I look forward to the journey with F45 as the business continues to expand globally.”
