Darvesh Singh was a lawyer from Uttar Pradesh. She was the President of the Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh. On 12 June 2019, he was shot by another lawyer, just two days after being appointed as the Chairman of the BAR Council.

Darvesh Singh was born in 1981 (age 38 years at the time of death) in Etah, Uttar Pradesh. His full name was Darvesh Singh Yadav. He did his schooling from a local school in Etah, UP. He completed his graduation in law from Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Agra (now Agra University). She started practicing law in the year 2004 and shared an office with Manish Babu Sharma. Manish was her senior and was in the same college.

Darvesh Singh Yadav belonged to Other Backward Caste (OBC). She was a resident of Etah, UP and her ancestral village was Chandpur, UP. Her parents died when she was a teenager. His father was a retired police officer of UP Police. His mother was a sub-inspector in UP Police. He had a younger brother and a younger sister, Kanchan. After his mother died while on duty, his younger sister was offered a job as a sub-inspector in the UP Police. Kanchan had completed her police training in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, just three days before Darvesh was elected Bar Council President.

Darvesh started his career by practicing law in Etah with his senior Manish Babu Sharma. She worked there for 5 years, then in 2009 she moved to Agra. She progressed very rapidly in her career. In 2014, she was elected as the Vice President of the Uttar Pradesh Bar Council; She was the first woman to be elected Vice President of the UP Bar Council.
Many people said that Darvesh was a very kind person. She cared for people, attending funerals of people she knew, attending functions where she was invited, and always greeting everyone with a smile. She wanted to become the President of the Bar Council in 2019 and for this she had to convince everyone in the Council to elect her. He also offered several changes and improvements in the existing system. He had promised to set up libraries across UP for the Bar Council members. She wanted to offer compensation for family members of advocates who died in accidents and medical expenses for sick advocates. He also promised chambers for junior advocates.
On 10 June 2019, she was elected as the Chairperson of the UP Bar Council. She was in a tie with another lawyer and it was decided that they would rotate presidential duties every six months. Earlier it was certain that he would become the President. She was praised across India for being the first woman to become the chairperson of the UP Bar Council.
Death
On 12 June 2019, Darvesh Singh was visiting the Civil Court of Agra, where she was to be felicitated on being elected President. His long time colleague Manish Babu Sharma was also present there. Due to growing differences between them, Manish and Darvesh were not talking to each other for the last 6 months. Senior lawyer Arvind Mishra was happy to see Manish; As she thought he was there to greet her and resolve their differences.
After meeting junior lawyers and other members of the Agra Civil Court, Darvesh went to the chambers of senior lawyer Arvind Mishra, where her felicitation ceremony was to take place. Darvesh and Manish were present in his chamber along with 6-7 lawyers. Darvesh and Manish started arguing when suddenly Manish took out his gun and shot Darvesh 3 times. Darwish shot him twice in the chest and once in the head. Everyone was in shock and before they realized what had happened, Manish shot himself. He was taken to Pushpanjali Hospital, where Darvesh was declared brought dead. Manish’s condition was critical and the police were waiting for his recovery; Because they wanted to interrogate him. The body was sent back to his home in Etah for the last rites.
