Dan began his musical career in Victoria, Canada, where he was a member of various bands, including Atlas Strategic. Dan and singer John Pollard co-founded the famous British Columbia band Atlas Strategic in 2000, following the release of their first album Rapture, Ye Minions.
Boeckner and his then-fiancée Alexei Perry formed Handsome Furs in 2005. Plague Park released their first album in 2007 after signing to Sub Pop Records. Dan and Britt Daniel founded Divine Fits in 2011 when Daniel was on hiatus from his band Spoon. During Canadian Music Week in Toronto in May 2014, he established his new bandleaders.
