Cult Of The Lamb Uses Merch To Recreate Megalovania

The official Cult of the Lamb Twitter recreated the song “Megalovania” from Undertale using its own merch. Cult of the Lamb is a recent spooky-yet-cute hit that has, ironically, reached almost cult-like fame and adoration since its release. In-game, players take control of an adorable sacrificial lamb character that starts a cult for a mysterious god that brought them back from the dead.“Megalovania” is a song that has become so well known, that even those who have never played Undertale are able to recognize it from just the first few notes. In fact, the first notes are so recognizable that they’ve been used in countless memes along with the character Sans. Undertale music has been performed numerous times in different genres and methods, including a capella, heavy metal, electro swing, and even made out of the sounds of Gabe the dog barking. Aside from Toby Fox’s highly acclaimed composing skills, the song is renowned because in the game the theme plays during the famously difficult boss battle against Sans. Most players need multiple tries to beat him, so by the time they finally win the fight players are likely well acquainted with the song. The Cult of the Lamb Twitter account shared a video where the Megalovania song was recreated using only Cult of the Lamb merchandise. At the time of writing, Cult of the Lamb has an equally cute and creepy plushie of the main character for pre-order. Musician Jared J Tan, or EhJaredJ, stars in the video using the official Cult of the Lamb plushies and two other products that have yet to be seen in stores, all while wearing a Cult of the Lamb t-shirt and beanie hat. He uses the bell on the plushie, slapping the plushie’s face with his fingers, and hitting the other two products together to make the sounds, which were then edited around to create the recognizable beat of Megalovania. The video then ends with a simple “buy Lamb merch” message.

Musician Uses Cult of Lamb Plushies to Make Music

Using the merchandise to make music, and a widely beloved song at that, is a rather charming idea. It certainly makes for a memorable video, which is exactly the goal of advertising. The adorable roguelike Cult of the Lamb has been highly reviewed since its debut, so fans have been eagerly waiting for more merchandise to drop (along with bug patches). This video has great timing, as the lamb plushies are currently available for pre-order.

This delightful video serves as both a great ad and as a case of one great game paying tribute to another. It’s nice to see a game as influential as Undertale continuing to inspire years later. Cult of the Lamb merchandise, such as the plushie, beanie hat, and t-shirt seen in the video, are all available for purchase on the Devolver Digital online store.
