Cuba Gooding Jr. Settles Rape Lawsuit, Avoids Trial

Cuba Gooding, Jr. reached a settlement with an unidentified woman who accused the actor of rape.

The 55-year-old actor was set to go to trial this week, but ultimately reached an out-of-court settlement with the woman, according to Variety.

Cuba was first accused in 2013 of meeting the woman in her New York City hotel room after meeting in a lounge.

The lawsuit says Cuba “began to undress in front of her and allegedly blocked the door, pushed her onto the bed, and put his hands on her breasts and under her dress without consent.”

He then reportedly “raped the woman vaginally and anally, even though she begged him to stop.”

Cuban lawyer Mark Jay Heller denied the allegations in 2020 when the lawsuit was filed.

“We never received the complaint, but the accusations are completely false and perjury,” he said. “The claims that she acted inappropriately in the complaint are completely inappropriate and false.”

The agreement comes just months after Cuba pleaded guilty to another charge of aggression.
