After her birth, her parents moved to the Poconos, Pennsylvania, where she lived until she was 14 years old. After her parents separated, Courtney moved with her mother to Seaford, Long Island, to live with her grandmother. He did his schooling from Seaford High School. He studied for a BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) in Theater from the State University of New York at Fredonia, but dropped out after losing interest in it. He then spent the summer bartending and took acting classes at Fredonia. After a year or two, she moved to Los Angeles. - When she was four years old, she saw a hula dancer on TV and decided she wanted to become one. His mother told him that this was not a profession for him. She tried to find another way to get on TV and dance in front of people. Later, she realized that she was not made for dancing and decided to become an actress.
- He was interested in theater since childhood. When she was in 9th grade, her friend Patty auditioned her for her high school’s production of the musical ‘Carousel’. During the audition, he pretended to eat an apple while singing about clams and got the role.
- In his high school, he acted in several school productions. She was also part of a teen theater group that performed in downtown Hempstead. His school also had a program called ‘Showmobile’ under which they performed various children’s shows in various parks around Hempstead.
- According to him, he had almost given up acting before he got the role in ‘Cobra Kai’. In an interview he said,
My husband told me I couldn’t quit because we got our health insurance through SAG. He was like, ‘Let’s wait a while until we figure out our next move in health insurance.'”
He made his final attempt at acting and auditioned for Cobra Kai. A week later, she was cast to star alongside Ralph Macchio and William Zabka in Cobra Kai, playing Ralph’s onscreen wife, Amanda LaRusso. He said,
I definitely kept his (Ralph Macchio) name in one word for the first two seasons of filming. He was like, ‘You can call me Ralph.'”
