While Wheel of Fortune will be in a transition period while Pat Sajak films her final season, Vanna White isn’t worried about the future of the game show.
Although co-host Pat Sajak announced his departure from the show in June, we may be seeing a lot more of his family in Wheel in the future.
Maggie Sajak, Pat’s daughter, currently serves as the show’s social media correspondent. She made her first Wheel debuted as a baby and has been a familiar face on viewers’ screens for several years. According to Pat, it would be best for his daughter to follow in his footsteps.
Pat explained to MY!, “I think it’s a good replacement if I can’t be there for some reason. She has been in this her whole life, so I think for sure she can replace me.”
This year, Maggie, 28, made her hosting debut on Wheel, temporarily replacing Vanna White. White also seems to believe that the co-host’s daughter is fit for television screens.
The co-host explained: “She’s gorgeous, she’s beautiful, she’s so good. I think she learned a lot from her father because he is a very good interviewer.”
Recently, White extended his contract in Wheel through the 2025 and 2026 seasons. Joining the show in 1982, the co-host only missed a handful of tapings of the show. Most recently, White was absent after contracting COVID.
“I think she’s good for our program,” White added.
The future of Wheel After Sajak’s retirement
Sajak announced his retirement earlier this year after 42 years on the show.
Regarding his time in Wheel, Sajak recalled, “It’s been a wonderful journey.”
Media personality Ryan Seacrest is teaming up with White to take over hosting duties for the game show, and fans shouldn’t expect to miss a beat.
Episodes starring the show’s new co-host will begin in September 2024. If fans are lucky, Maggie Sajak could also appear.
