Connie Britton Reveals Why She Withdrew From ‘American Horror Story’ Emmy Reunion

The theme of this year’s Emmys was reunions. Unfortunately for American horror story fans, Connie Britton did not attend a mini reunion. She was supposed to reunite with her co-star Dylan McDermott.

Instead, McDermott ended up taking the stage with Anthony Anderson dressed as the Rubber Man. Britton had to stop attending the Emmys due to the weather. According to ET Online, Britton had to fly back to New York. He had to beat out a nasty snow storm headed for the East Coast.

Britton is currently filming the television miniseries. Day zero, so she couldn’t afford to be stranded. Still, it was unfortunate for fans of American horror story wanting a meeting.

However, American horror story Fans can take solace in the fact that the original stars had an on-screen reunion just a few years ago. In 2018, Britton reappeared alongside McDermott in “Apocalypse,” which continued the characters from the first season.

“It was very important to me, I really wanted to do it. We had talked about it for a long time and this was the moment,” Britton tells Variety. “I didn’t have to think about it. I felt like I had to shake myself a little. “I hadn’t been back in seven years and I thought, ‘Oh my God, can I play this character and the rest?'”

In an interview with Hollywood Reporter, Britton talked about filming the reunion. At the time, Britton took time out of her schedule to film it, which she’s obviously passionate about.

She said: “Well, it was very simple. Of course she was going to come back. We’ve been talking about this for years and I’ve obviously been working with him on other things, so it was really very simple. But he didn’t really even tell me what he was going to do. It was basically like, “Okay, let’s do a crossover.” And I said, “Okay, I’ll show up!” We recorded it in me Dirty John filming schedule, which was not an easy task, and we made it possible.”

Britton won’t completely close the door on a future return to the series, saying: “I always say, never say never. To be completely honest, I usually can’t watch American horror story. It’s too scary for me. It’s a very dark world to live in. I loved the season we filmed because it was a very exciting season of television.”
