Comedian Richard Lewis shared that the last few years of his life have been rather difficult.
The 75-year-old Curb Your Enthusiasm actor encountered a number of health issues that required him to get four consecutive surgeries.
Richard then revealed he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.

“Here’s really what happened,” Richard said. “Three and half years ago I was in the middle of a tour and I finally ended it with a show. I said, ‘You know I’m at the top of my game, after 15 years almost I’m going to call it quits,’ and I felt great about that and then out of the blue the s— hit the fan. I had four surgeries back to back to back to back, it was incredible, I couldn’t believe it, it was bad luck, but that’s life.”
“I had back surgery, then I had a shoulder surgery, then I had a shoulder replacement surgery…oh and then I had a hip replacement,” Richard shared in a video on Twitter.
Shortly after that he noticed the way he was walking was different and went to a neurologist. After a brain scan, he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
Parkinson’s is a chronic degenerative disorder of the central nervous system that affects the motor system.
“I just wanted to let you know that’s where it’s been at,” Richard said. “I’m just focusing on writing and acting. I have Parkinson’s disease but I’m under a doctor’s care and everything is cool. I love my wife, I love my little puppy dog and I love all my friends and my fans. And now you know where it’s been at the last three and a half years. God bless you.”
Richard Lewis has had a recurring role on the sitcom Curb Your Enthusiasm as a semi-autobiographical version of himself.
Larry David is seemingly saying goodbye to his long-running hit series, Curb Your Enthusiasm, as it is “likely” to end with its upcoming Season 12.
