The following is the statement Cindy Williams’ children made after her death:
“The passing of our funny, kind mother, Cindy Williams, has brought us an infinite sadness that can never be truly expressed,” the statement read. “Knowing and loving her has been a joy and a privilege for us.” She is unique, beautiful and generous, with a great sense of humor and a bubbly attitude that everyone loves.”

Williams is best known for her role as Shirley Feeney on the Disney ABC sitcom Happy Days Laverne & Shirley, starring Shirley Feeney and rude Laverne DeFazio. On January 26, 1976, the television show premiered at the top of the charts. Unlike Laverne Penny Marshall, who talks about some roommates who worked at a Milwaukee bottling plant in the 1950s and 1960s, William’s character is the stern Shirley Feeney.
In 1978, Williams was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in Laverne & Shirley.

The show also airs on Tuesdays, following Happy Days—the series that all started when Williams was hired by Garry Marshall for the popular sitcom—Happy Days at 8:30 p.m., and according to Hollywood Reporter, it “became the most watched series of seasons 1977-78 and 1978-79.” The actress is known for her roles in George Lucas’ 1973 film American Graffiti and the year’s The Conversation. 1974 by Francis Ford Coppola.
