Christopher Plummer’s Biography
Arthur Christopher Orme Plummer was born in the Canadian city of Toronto. He is the only child of Isabella Mary (Abbott), the dean secretary at McGill, and John Orme Plummer, a stockbroker. He was the great-grandson of third Canadian Prime Minister John Abbott (from 1891 to 1892) and the great-grandson of Anglican priest John Bethune. He is of Scottish, English and Anglo-Irish descent. Plummer grew up in Senneville, Quebec, near Montreal.
He speaks good English and French. He started studying as a concert pianist at an early age, but he soon developed a sense of stage and started performing while still in high school in Montreal. He acquired the basics of acting while still a student at the Montreal Repertory Theatre.
