Chendall Weaver believes his parents handed him his athletic DNA correctly. Shonda Perkins, mother of the Texas Longhorn player, is his biggest fan and is often seen on the field cheering him on. Weaver, 20, transferred to the University of Texas after playing as a freshman at the University of Texas at Arlington. Chendall (pronounced KEN-dull) averaged 9.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists at UTA.
Weaver, a 6’3 guard, graduated from Mansfield Timberview High School where he averaged 17 points and eight rebounds as a senior. Weaver’s recent performances in Texas have made him a household name. His coach, Rodney Terry, praised his play against Baylor, saying Weaver has excelled at his position since the start of the season. Weaver came off the bench against Oklahoma and scored a season-high 11 points in 27 minutes.
Chendall Weaver’s Parents: Meet His Mother Shonda Perkins
Chendall Weaver has parents who used to be athletes. In an interview with Baseline to Sideline Report, Chendall said his athleticism comes from his parents. The basketball player’s mother, Shonda Perkins, is active on social networks. Chendall’s father’s name was not listed on the Texas student website, leading many to speculate that his parents were divorced.
Shonda Perkins
Shonda Perkins was born in Texas and now lives in Mansfield, Texas. Perkins took multiple photos on Instagram of attending Chendall games and wearing Longhorns merchandise. Shonda is now a third grade teacher at Imogene Gideon Elementary School. During the Championship Series between the Rangers and the Astros, Shonda wore a Rangers shirt to school with the other instructors. Last year, Shonda posted a beautiful video of herself getting an autograph from her child. Shonda has been a loyal Chendall fan since the beginning and even has a Chendall Weaver t-shirt signed by her child.
Shonda’s page includes not only her son’s accomplishments, but also those of her classmates. Last year, she posted photos of her kids hanging out with bottles for Black History Month. Shonda just took to Twitter to praise her son’s performance against Baylor. The Longhorns beat the Bears 75-73, and Weaver scored just two points, but as Shonda noted, he made a significant impact with two free throws and a stellar defense.
Chendall Weaver Siblings: Relationship With WNBA Player
The Texas athlete has three older siblings: two brothers and one older sister. His two brothers, Cameron Cosey and Chandler Carter, have kept a low profile. They occasionally appear on Shonda’s Instagram account. Chendall’s oldest brother, Cameron Cosey, turned 29 on January 1, and their mother shared a collection of photos. Chandler Carter, his other older brother, had his 27th birthday last December 24th. Shonda wrote a wonderful article for her son, whom she calls the middle child in the family.
Chendall has a close relationship with former WNBA player Chennedy Carter, which many people are not aware of. Carter and Weaver are half-siblings. Chennedy Carter studied basketball at Texas A&M for three years. She played in 88 games for Texas A&M, averaging 22.5 points, 4.06 assists and 4.18 rebounds.
Chennedy, a shooting guard, declared for the 2020 WNBA draft, bypassing her senior season. The Atlanta Dream selected Chennedy in the first round as the fourth overall pick. This made her the most drafted player in Texas A&M history. Chenney was enjoying a successful debut season until an ankle injury. She scored at least 25 points four times and was nominated for the 2020 WNBA All-Rookie Team. Chennedy signed with Turkish basketball team Elzaig right after her first season in the WNBA. In 2022, Chennedy joined the Los Angeles Sparks and appeared in 24 games. Chennedy averaged 8.9 points and 1.9 assists. Chennedy appears to be taking a year off from basketball and is not on the Sparks roster. She also hasn’t changed her Instagram account since July 2023.
