Charles Anthony Prabhakaran (1985–2009) was the son of LTTE chief Velupillai Prabhakaran and a prominent member of the Sri Lankan Tamil Tigers terrorist organisation, formally known as the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). He died on 18 May 2009.

Charles Anthony was born in Sri Lanka to a Tamil Hindu family. His ancestors were from the Thirumeni Kudumbam (aka Thirumeni family), who built the Sivan temple at Valvettithurai.

Charles Anthony’s father was Velupillai Prabhakaran, a militant leader and founder of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). He was killed in a shootout with the Sri Lankan army in May 2009. Anthony’s mother, Mathivathani Erambu, was reportedly killed by the Sri Lankan military; However, the army later denied killing him and said they had no information about his whereabouts. Anthony had a younger brother, Balachandran Prabhakaran, who was shot by the Sri Lankan Army in May 2009 and a younger sister, Duvaraga, who was reportedly found dead along with their mother on 20 May 2009.

Charles was the head of the LTTE’s Information and Technology Department and the head of the Air Tigers, the LTTE’s aerial division.

In early 2006, Anthony was in charge of the Air Tigers, the air wing of the LTTE. He was known for designing the Czech-made Zlin-143 aircraft, which was used by the LTTE to attack important sites of the Sri Lankan Army. He also shot down a plane and bombed Katunayake Air Force Base in March 2007.
Death
According to some sources, Charles Anthony Prabhakaran died during the final stages of fighting with the Sri Lankan army on 18 May 2009.

During the final days of the Sri Lankan Army’s Northern Operation of 2008–2009, Charles attempted to breach the Sri Lankan Army’s security, but did not succeed. He lost his life, along with about 100 other LTTE fighters, during the battle at Mullaitivu, Vellamulvaikkal, Sri Lanka.
Facts/General Knowledge
- In August 2007, a Tamil doctor who specialized in treating venereal diseases and was also a close friend of LTTE leader Prabhakaran in Colombo was secretly brought to Kilinochchi by three of the LTTE leader’s bodyguards. He was brought in to treat Charles Anthony, who was reportedly suffering from syphilis.
- In May 2009, the Sri Lankan Army received $12 million from Charles Anthony after he was killed in a shootout with the Sri Lankan Army.
- During search operations after the war, the Sri Lankan Army found birth certificates, horoscopes and albums of LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran and his son Charles Anthony. The birth certificates of Prabhakaran and Antony were neatly laminated and kept for public viewing.
