In 1964, the couple welcomed their first child, a boy named Prank (age 57 years; as of 2021). In 1969, he met Chantal Compagnon and Charles left Desnoyers to live with Compagnon. Talking about her relationship with Compagnon and their split, she said,
We met at a young age, then he met another woman, also named Chantal. We saw each other again but we decided not to live together, because even though we understand each other, I am very independent.
On the day he married Compagnon, Desnoyers welcomed their second child, a girl named Muriel Anouk.

In an interview, Chantal revealed that Charles was in touch with his children, and that he regularly wrote to them and sent cassettes through which he spoke to them.
They know his past but they are not judgmental. They love him. You know, it is not possible to decide. “Human nature is very complex.”
Facts/General Knowledge
- In an interview in 1995, Charles’s lawyer revealed that Desnoyers was suffering from stomach cancer. Talking about this in a telephonic interview he said,
I told him not to tell anyone. “Charles shouldn’t have talked about it.”
- In an interview she talked about her relationship with Charles and said,
Charles is a very dear friend. we are very close. I write to him twice a week. I have great tenderness towards him. we understand each other. I don’t think he loves me. “She needs me, that’s all.”
- Defending Charles and his crimes he said,
Well, I don’t want to say. it’s private. He is not responsible, you cannot evaluate him like you do other normal people. I don’t think he realizes what he does.”
