Chandan Prabhakar is an Indian comedian, actor, producer and screenwriter, best known for his role as Chandu Chaiwala in the television comedy show The Kapil Sharma Show on Sony TV.

In 2010, Chandan debuted in Bollywood with the film Vivyanko Ko Samjho, in which he played the role of Thakur’s son.

In 2012, he made his Punjabi debut with the film Power Cut, in which he played the role of Khamba Ram, a lineman. Later, Chandan appeared in Punjabi films such as Control Bhaji Control (2014), Pradyuman Sharma in Disco Singh, a Detective (2014), and Vijay Soni in Judge Singh LLB, a Lawyer (2015).

In 2007, Chandan made his television debut with the comedy show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge Season 3 on Star One.

Since I am more associated with the Punjabi film industry, I am producing and directing films there in the state. Writing scripts is nothing new for me. Earlier, when I came to Mumbai to be a part of the Laughter Challenge, we wrote our script ourselves because we did not have a script writer then. Now I am the content director of my Punjabi films.
Controversy
Walked out of The Kapil Sharma Show
In 2017, Chandan went to Australia to do a comedy show with the members of The Kapil Sharma Show. Before the start of the show, Chandan had some argument with Kapil Sharma, after which he did not perform in the show. It was reported that while returning from Australia, a drunk Kapil abused Chandan Prabhakar and had a heated argument with Sunil Grover. When Sunil Grover tried to resolve the matter between them, Kapil assaulted Sunil verbally and physically. Due to this incident, Chandan left the show. When asked about the fight with Chandan in an interview, Kapil said,
I wanted to meet him and apologize. My mistake was that he is my friend and I did not even listen to his side of the story and just abused him. I finally met her on the day we were to fly back to India, and I saw her an hour before check-in. I became even more angry. I abused her five more times and she abused me.
After three months, Chandan resumed shooting for The Kapil Sharma Show and in an interview when he was asked the reason for joining the show again, he said,
See, every action has an equal and opposite reaction. We are like family; I have spent half my life with Kapil. If I make it a big issue by saying that I don’t want to work with you in my life, then it is not right. If I reacted then that’s fine, but I can’t extend it throughout my life. Two brothers fight in a family but it does not mean that they leave each other forever.”
