Chainsaw Man’s Next Chapter Will Introduce Its Wildest Weapon Yet

Warning! Contains spoilers for Chapter 116 of Chainsaw Man!The manga Chainsaw Man is no stranger to crazy set pieces, but its next chapter is promising to introduce its wildest one yet. Series author Tatsuki Fujimoto often thinks out of the box to provide his readers with striking scenes and imagery like that of Chainsaw Man riding a shark in a typhoon and a line of dead astronauts praying to the Darkness Devil. But the powers of Asa Mitaka, the new protagonist of the manga give Fujimoto the ability to surpass any of the crazy moments he included in Part 1.

In Chapter 116, Asa figures out a way to potentially escape the Eternity Devil’s infinite aquarium that she and Denji are trapped in. After seeing Denji try collecting an infinite amount of money using the duplicative properties of the aquarium’s looping space, Asa decides to join him and collect enough money to buy the aquarium, making it her property. Since she can only use the powers of the War Devil on things that she feels belong to her, after doing this she should be able to turn the aquarium into a weapon as well. The chapter ends with her attempting to do just this, trying to turn the aquarium into a giant spear.

If this works, it would be the wildest application of her abilities so far. When first showing off her powers in Chainsaw Man Chapter 98, the War Devil turned her teacher’s spinal cord into a sword and the dismembered hand of her classmate into a literal hand grenade, both of which were great examples of Fujimoto’s clever and quirky sense of humor. After this, Asa herself was then able to turn her school uniform into a powerful sword when fighting her friend Yuko. But all of these weapons will seem mundane if the promise of an infinite aquarium spear lives up to the concept’s potential.

Asa’s Aquarium Spear Could be the Wildest Thing in Chainsaw Man

Given that the aquarium is infinitely long while under the Eternity Devil’s power, the spear that Asa converts it into may also be infinitely large and thus to some degree incomprehensible. But by wielding this infinite weapon, she may be able to flush out the Eternity Devil from its hiding place and fight infinity with infinity. Alternatively, even if the weapon isn’t infinitely long and is just a spear made from a regular aquarium, this will still be the largest weapon that Asa has created up to this point and the first weapon that she has created with people inside of it. This could mean that she may be able to control the spear from the inside and pilot it like a mecha, which would also be insanely cool.

No matter what awesome direction Fujimoto decides to go with the Aquarium Spear, it is guaranteed to be the craziest weapon to appear in the series thus far. The fact that Chainsaw Man can keep outdoing itself, going to stranger and stranger places, is part of what makes fans so passionate about it. And if Asa’s Aquarium Spear is only a precursor to the wild events to come, Chainsaw Man’s second part may even be better than its first.
