Celebration of Riley Strain’s life announced and attendees asked to wear green

Nearly two weeks had passed since University of Missouri student Riley Strain disappeared. The 22-year-old was last seen on March 8 when he was kicked out of Luke Bryan’s bar in Nashville, Tennessee. His body was recovered in the Cumberland River on March 22.

Now, almost a week after her body was discovered, Riley’s family has already planned a homecoming celebration that will take place on Friday, March 29. According to her obituary, attendees are asked to wear something green to celebrate her life.

Riley Strain ‘Celebration of Life’ scheduled for March 29

“Riley used to joke, ‘Green makes you look good,’” his obituary reads. “In that spirit, we ask attendees to wear something green and dress comfortably to honor Riley’s love of life.”

Friends, loved ones and strangers touched by the story left heartwarming messages for the family of the fallen college student.

“I followed this story from Arizona. “I have been praying for her family since the first day she went missing,” one person wrote.

“Prayers to the family! Mom, I have no words, I can’t imagine your pain. Good luck Riley,” another added.

“Riley’s passing has shown his impact and love for everyone around him. He prayed that his friends and family would find comfort in this fact. Sending love and prayers,” another added.

“I didn’t know Riley personally, but I have followed his story closely. Prayers that his family and friends have the strength to face this tragedy,” said another.

The bar that expelled a university student speaks out

Strain was visiting Nashville for a fellowship trip. The image of a college fraternity member being kicked out of a bar is not a great one. This is why many expected a crime had been committed when he was first reported missing. The bar did not go into detail about why exactly Riley was asked to leave. But they did say that he did not comply with the establishment’s standards of conduct.

“During Riley’s visit to Luke’s Bridge 32, our records show that he purchased and was served an alcoholic beverage and two waters,” the statement reads.

“At 9:35 p.m., our security team made the decision, based on our standards of conduct, to escort him from the location through our Broadway exit at the front of our building. They then followed him down the stairs with a member of their group. “The individual who accompanied Riley did not leave and returned upstairs.”
