Cameron began playing under-13 junior cricket league for Subiaco-Florett Cricket Club at the age of 10. He made his Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA) first-grade cricket debut at the age of 16. Impressed by his performances, the Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA) signed him to an initial contract just before the Sheffield Shield season 2016–17. He played 8 matches in the Under-19 National League and took a total of 20 wickets at an average of 20 runs per innings.
He took 5/24 in 8.1 overs in the first innings against Tasmania and became the youngest player to take 5 wickets in Sheffield Shield.
