Cam Newton apologizes for fight at youth football tournament

In February, former NFL MVP Cam Newton went viral. Newton got into an altercation at a seven-on-seven youth football camp with members of one of the opposing teams, TSP. On the latest episode of his 4th and 1 podcast, Newton broke his silence and apologized.

“I am disappointed in myself for allowing the situation to get to what it did and that is why I apologize. The truth of the matter is this: I, being in my position, should never have put myself in that position. That is simply the truth. That could have gotten ugly, really,” Newton said.

“I feel like I let them down because I can’t sit here and say, ‘Hey bro, you gotta be bigger than that,’ and all of a sudden I do that. “It just goes to show that you should always keep control of your emotions.”

The rival team does not comment on the Cam Newton fight

In the video, Newton is seen fighting with the other team. Several punches were thrown as several men tried to attack him. But TSP team members Step and TJ Brown say it was Newton who was the aggressor in the situation. But the two apologized for the melee.

“Just out of nowhere, talking crazy to us for no reason. And as I walk up the stairs, Cam is in front of Steph and he grabbed her,” TJ said.

“As if we should have been able to sit down and talk. “There is no reason why we should yell at each other while a game is going on.”

Analyst sends warning to Cam Newton after altercation

With Cam’s altercation going viral, everyone weighed in. Mase, co-host of the It is What It Is podcast, noted an interesting perspective on the matter. The issue of safety comes into play when discussing the altercation. Although Newton was able to emerge from the fight unscathed, the situation had the potential to become dangerous.

“If that happened in Atlanta, it’s very dangerous because everyone carries guns in Atlanta,” Mase said.

“It’s like that could have gone a lot of different ways. I mean, I’m glad he got out of there safely, I’m glad everyone looked like they were safe. A few hands were exchanged, but it doesn’t seem like anything too crazy happened. It seemed like they were trying to get it going, but they never really got it going.”
