during it Busy Philipps is doing her best In a podcast earlier this week, Philipps revealed that his 15-year-old Birdie suffered a seizure. Notably, the actress witnessed the entire situation unfold in a FaceTime session.
“I listened to Marc [Silverstein] yelling at me and I was like, ‘What does this damn guy want now?'” Philipps shared. “And I went up the stairs but then I heard his voice and I knew something was really wrong. And he just said, ‘It’s Birdie, it’s Birdie.’ He’s had another seizure. The paramedics are on the phone.’”
Busy Philipps also revealed to her listeners that Birdie experienced a seizure in March 2023. This time, Birdie was watching the new The Hunger Games I filmed with a friend when she started choking and vomiting. Her friend immediately called paramedics and Birdie’s family to help her.
“She’s 17 years old, but this girl got someone to go tell the theater to close it… to close it,” Philipps continued. “She had two guys who obviously didn’t know they were sitting behind [them] – because Birdie started choking and lunging – to gently move Birdie to the ground and turn her on her side. He got someone else to call Swedish 9-1-1.”
Busy Philipps later said the paramedics were with her on FaceTime the entire time. “She had just come out of the seizure and was still in the post-aura state,” Busy continued. “They were like connecting her to things and on FaceTime.”

Philipps also recalled on his podcast talking to Birdie after the seizure episode. He noticed that Birdie’s friend was holding the phone at an odd angle so she could see everything that was happening.
“She was walking up to the camera and just saying, calling me,” Busy continued. “I just say, ‘Mom.’ Mother. Mother. Where are you? Mother.'”
In addition to the podcast, Busy Philipps took to Instagram to share a series of photos of her time with her daughter Birdie following the cinema seizure.
“We’re back today and spending most of the last week and a half on our lives as usual,” Philips wrote in the caption. “And I explain all the things that happened and try to get over them. Birdie is fine. I’m fine. We’re all going to be fine. But it’s been a while and a year.”
Busy said he was inspired by a poem by Charles Bukowski, The heart that laughs. The post also had photos of Birdie recovering and smiling.
