Britney Spears’ 2003 interview with Diane Sawyer has faced backlash for years after many criticized the journalist for being misogynistic in her questioning.
Now, Britney is finally sharing how she really felt after that interview, which took place right after her breakup with Justin Timberlake.
At the time there were rumors that Britney cheated on Justin, which she just confirmed, but back then they were just reports. Diane asked, “You broke his heart, you did something that caused him so much pain, so much suffering…what did you do?”
Britney burst into tears at one point during the interview and had to pause.

In her new book “The Woman in Me,” Britney writes: “I felt like I had been exploited, that I had been placed in front of the whole world.”
Britney says in the book that her father and her managers forced her to do the interview, even though she didn’t feel ready to do it, according to The New York Times.
People It also reports that Britney spoke openly about doing other interviews at a young age.
“Everyone kept making strange comments about my breasts, wanting to know if I had had plastic surgery or not,” she said.
Britney took the antidepressant Prozac to handle all the attention she received.
