Billy Porter has booked a very exciting new role!
The 53-year-old Emmy, Tony and Grammy winner will play legendary novelist, essayist and gay activist James Baldwin in an upcoming biopic based on his life.
Billy will co-write the screenplay with Dan McCabe based on the 1994 book by David Leeming. James Baldwin: A Biography.

“As a queer black man on this planet with relative conscience, I find myself, as James Baldwin said, ‘angry all the time.’ I am because James was. I stand on the shoulders of James Baldwin and intend to expand his legacy for generations to come,” Billy shared in a statement with the hollywood reporter.
Billy’s Incognegro Productions will co-produce the upcoming biopic with Allen Media Group.
It was recently announced that Billy will be among the guests appearing in the final episodes of The Late Late Show with James Corden!
