Bhuma Akhila Priya is a member of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).

After the demise of her mother who died in a road accident in 2014, she entered politics and was elected as the MLA of Allagadda constituency in 2014. She was a member of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) at that time. But in 2016, both Priya and her father changed allegiance and became members of the TDP. After this, he met former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N. Became the youngest minister in Chandrababu Naidu’s cabinet. During the cabinet reshuffle in 2018, he was assigned the Ministry of Tourism, Telugu Language and Culture. She also owns a crusher factory at Kondapuram in Dornipadu mandal of Kurnool in partnership with one of her relatives, Shivarami Reddy.

  • In March 2018, an ugly feud between Akhila Priya and her father’s associate AV Subba Reddy came to light when Akhila Priya reportedly ignored Subba, who did not invite Subba to her father’s first death anniversary celebration. In one of her speeches, Akhila Priya gave the statement-

    The rift between them widened further when both of them celebrated the foundation day of TDP separately despite living in the same city. As the fight between Priya and Subba continued, they both started launching physical attacks against each other. After all, TDP supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu had to take useful steps to oust both the groups.

  • Akhila Priya and Shivarami Reddy are partners in a crusher factory in Kondapuram. Reportedly, Akhila Priya wanted Shivarami to hand over the entire crushing unit to her. When Shivarami did not heed his advances, Akhila Priya’s husband, Bhargav Ram, intervened and allegedly threatened her. On September 10, Bhargava, along with a group of men, attacked the crushing unit workers with weapons. On September 27, Bhargava forcibly locked Shivarami’s batching plant.
  • Following the incident, Shivarami Reddy filed a case against Bhargav Ram at the Allahabad police station on charges of obstructing a public servant in his duty in October 2019. Reportedly, he ran away when the police came to arrest him.
  • Soon after the case was registered against her husband, Akhila Priya, after she visited Tummalapalle in Kadapa to take stock of the pollution caused by uranium mining, accused the police of foisting cases against her husband to suppress her voice . Taking the allegations further, he said-
