The Berserker armor appears in Chapter 222 of the manga. Forged by dwarven blacksmiths, it has the ability to evoke negative emotions from the user while also suppressing their pain and fear, allowing them to transcend the limits of their body. This dangerous yet powerful item was once used by the mysterious Skull Knight to fight demons, then kept by the witch Flora, who later passed it on to Gus. In the final part of the battle, this armor gives Guts a lot- need to strengthen his fighting ability violent, but this comes with a big cost. The spirits that empower the armor, if left unchecked, can transform the wearer into savage, bloodthirsty monsters, much like the lunatics of the Norse tradition.
Sadae spent three months building and refining her Guts Berserk Armor, and the results can be easily seen in the photos posted on her Instagram account. Sadae is a pro and expert in armor and cosplay props, but this has to be one of her best works to date. The level of detail in each plate of armor, the way they fit together perfectly, and the beautiful combination of the helmet belt, all come together to create an amazing work of art inspired from the late Kentaro Miura’s masterpieces. Of course, this great cosplay couldn’t be complete without Dragon Slayer, Gus’ iconic sword that, with its unique size and appearance, has captured the imaginations of thousands of fans throughout the years.
Sadae also shared some photos of the armor making process and admitted that even using the Papercraft 3D model as a base, it was still very difficult to do. She added an interesting detail: the helmet she created was actually from an earlier version of the armor, the one used by the Skeleton Knight. The armor adjusts its shape to the wearer’s needs, and when Gus wears it, the helmet takes on a distinctive wolf shape. However, this particular shape was so difficult to make that even the talented Sadae had to give up and accept another design.
