Captain Sandy Yawn is engaged!
On Monday (September 18), the 58-year-old Below deck Mediterranean The star announced that she is engaged to Leah Shafer, her girlfriend of more than five years.
“I’ve been thinking about marrying Leah for years,” Sandy shared with MY! News. “I knew from the moment I met her, but it had to be the right time. “First I wanted to make sure we could really live life together.”

Sandy and Leah got engaged last weekend, but Sandy has been thinking about getting down on one knee since April.
“Leah wanted the fairy tale and, to me, Leah represents elegance,” Sandy said of her proposal. “I planned a boat ride to a beautiful cove. “I had it decorated with flowers with a path to a little table accompanied by three violinists where we could sit and have a little date.”
Sandy admitted she was so nervous that she proposed to Leah, 49, as soon as they got there.
“I really couldn’t wait!” Sandy said. “I shared my list of visions of love that I had written down and wanted, then I got down on one knee. Then she said ‘yes!’ The look on her face was priceless and my heart exploded! It was packed beyond capacity she could ever imagine.”
She continued: “Somehow I feel closer than before and I can’t explain it. There is an energy that I have never experienced in my life. I love her beyond; as Leah Yawns beyond says.”
Sandy and Leah first met in 2018 in Los Angeles after Leah contacted Sandy on Facebook months earlier.
