Bekka Allick is an American collegiate volleyball player. She is the daughter of Colleen Ziegelbein and Melvin Allick. Bekka and her five siblings grew up fighting against each other after being born in Texas to athletic parents. Colleen, her mother, was a basketball player at Northwest Missouri State. Her father, Melvin, who works for the Texas Department of Public Safety, was also a swimmer at UNLV.
Allick, a University of Nebraska business management major, is a middle blocker for the Cornhuskers. In the meantime, her parents have been a constant source of advice and support, which she believes will be crucial in her future journey. Bekka Allick, a junior at the University of Nebraska, began her athletic career at VC Nebraska. Additionally, she spent two years of high school volleyball at two different schools, Waverly and Lincoln Star. She once led her team, VC Nebraska, to a national title triumph. In addition, she was a member of the United States U-18 Girls National Team, which competed in the 2021 FIVB U18 World Championship. Furthermore, in 2022, her high school success earned her the Nebraska Gatorade Player of the Year Award.

Bekka Allick was born on January 26, 2004 in Texas, United States to parents Colleen Ziegelbein and Melvin Allick. Her parents had six children, including Bekka. Colleen and Melvin divorced when Bekka was very young, and she moved to live with her stepfather in Lincoln, Nebraska. Melvin, Becca’s biological father, was born and raised in Texas, where he graduated from James Madison High School. He went on to study general studies at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, where he was also a swimmer.
He later attended a number of universities, earning degrees in various fields, including vocational education from Wayland Baptist University and a master’s degree in public affairs from the LBJ School of Public Affairs in Texas. He currently lives in Texas and has been employed for about three years as an academic lieutenant training soldiers. Colleen Ziegelbein, her mother, is originally from College Springs, Iowa. After high school, she went to Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Colleen has been a special education teacher since 2013. She now lives in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Bekka’s stepfather Bill passed away in 2013
Colleen Allick, Bekka Allick’s mother, married Bill Ziegelbein of Lincoln in 2013 after divorcing ex-husband Melvin in 2011. Unfortunately, he died in a motorcycle accident just two years later. According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, Bill and Colleen were involved in an accident while riding near White River, South Dakota, during the Sturgis Motorcycle Festival. According to the same source, the couple were involved in an accident when Bill lost control of the car, went off the road and crashed into a roadside pole. To make matters worse, none of them were wearing helmets.
Colleen suffered life-threatening injuries, while Bill died at the scene. Fortunately, she survived and is now responsible for eight children, six of her own and two from Bill’s previous relationship. Bill Ziegelbein, a native of Polk, was a former college football player. From 1987 to 1991, he appeared in 24 games for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Bill was only 44 when he died.
