Barbie and Oppenheimer are continuing to reign as “Barbenheimer.”
The Greta Gerwig-directed billion dollar-making Mattel movie brought in an additional $33.7 million at the weekend box office, the ninth-biggest showing for a fourth weekend at the box office in history, via THR.
Greta Gerwig is now the highest-grossing female director of all time domestically, as well as the highest-grossing female director of a live-action movie at the worldwide box office.
At $526.3 million domestically, Barbie will soon pass The Dark Knight‘s $534 million at the domestic box office to become the top-grossing Warner release of all time in North America as well.
Oppenheimer, directed by Christopher Nolan, brought in $18.8 million in its fourth weekend, pulling in $264 million domestically and $649 million globally overall, becoming the director’s fifth-biggest film of all time overall.
