On 29 May 2022, Balkaur Singh was traveling with two gunmen in another vehicle, which was provided by the Punjab government to his son Sidhu Moose Wala. Balkaur Singh was following his son’s jeep. Balkaur Singh remembered that he saw a white Toyota Corolla overtaking Sidhu Moosewala’s vehicle in an attempt to cut off his jeep. In an interview Balkour said,
I chased him (Sidhu) with my government gunman and went in another car. On the way, I saw that a Toyota Corolla car was coming behind my son’s Thar. There were four people in it. When my son’s Thar reached near the Phirni (outer road) of village Jawaharke, there was already a white colored Bolero car waiting there. Four people were sitting in it also. As soon as my son’s Thar reached in front of the Bolero car, four miscreants started firing indiscriminately at it. Firing continued for some time and then the miscreants ran away with the Bolero and Corolla vehicles. As soon as I reached the spot, noise started. I called people nearby and then took my son and two friends to the hospital.”

- Balkaur Singh wrote a letter to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann demanding justice for his son. In the letter he demanded that the case should be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) instead of the Punjab Police. He further demanded that the case should be monitored by a panel of judges of the Punjab High Court.

- Balkaur Singh also revealed that his son, Sidhu Moose Wala, often received threats from gangsters over calls; A huge amount is being demanded from him. While giving an interview, Balkaur Singh said,
It was because of regular threats that the family bought a bulletproof Fortuner car. But on Sunday, my son had left home in a Mahindra Thar car with his two friends (Gurvinder Singh and Gurpreet Singh). He had left both the bulletproof car and the gunman at home.
- While cremating the mortal remains of his son Sidhu Moose Wala, Balkaur Singh became emotional and took off his turban and placed it in front of the people gathered there for the cremation.
- Balkaur Singh and his wife Charanjit Kaur Sidhu got the singer’s portrait tattooed on their hands in July 2022.
