Avtar Singh Khanda (1988–2023) was a UK-based activist and journalist. He was the vice-president of the youth wing of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar). In 2023, Khanda came into limelight when a group of Khalistan supporters vandalized the Indian High Commission in London, UK during protests against Punjab Police’s attempt to arrest Waris Punjab D chief Amritpal Singh. Khanda was considered the guru of Amritpal Singh. He died on 15 June 2023 at Sandwell Hospital, Birmingham, UK.

Avtar Singh Khanda was born in 1988 (age 35 years; as of 2023) in Rode village, Moga district of Punjab province, British India (Punjab, India). He studied in a model school run by Arya Samaj. Due to his father’s image as a separatist in India, various agencies including the police would often raid his premises, due to which the family shifted their home to various places in Punjab such as Patiala, Ludhiana and Moga .

On March 21, 2023, Avtar Singh Khanda was taken into custody in the case of vandalism at the Indian High Commission in London. Two days before the arrest, i.e. on 19 March 2023, pro-Khalistan supporters removed the Indian flag from the top of the High Commission building in protest against the Punjab Police action against Amritpal Singh and his followers.
