Aubrey O’Day claims Diddy wanted to give her publishing rights in exchange for her silence

Aubrey O’Day opens up about her own personal experience with now-infamous rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs.

The former Danity Kane member told TMZ that Diddy allegedly tried to buy his silence and that of other former Bad Boy artists by giving them back their publishing rights. He had signed with Bad Boy Records in the 2000s.

During the media’s new documentary Diddy’s Fall Audrey O’Day stated that while Diddy’s offer seemed generous at the time, it also came with many conditions. She claimed that in order for her and other artists to obtain their music rights, they each had to sign non-disclosure agreements (NDAs).

O’Day said he didn’t want to do that because he had a feeling he would be giving up his ability to speak if necessary. He also noted that he was given $300.30 for a “full release of all claims against Diddy and many other players.”

When asked what Diddy’s motive was for releasing the publishing rights, Aubrey O’Day had some ideas. “I think you’d probably be taking steps to keep as many people quiet as possible.”

O’Day also pointed out what the contract said. “He specifically asked Me to remain silent and never speak ill of a human being,” he recounted. “Then I realized something really bad was coming.”

A source involved in the situation also shared details with Page Six. “Aubrey O’Day got her big break because Diddy and Bad Boy cast her on her show with her group, Danity Kane.”

“Last year, when he reallocated his share of publishing to Bad Boy artists, an unprecedented move within the industry and one he didn’t have to make, not all artists signed a confidentiality agreement.”

Aubrey O’Day spoke about the behavior she noticed in Diddy during ‘Making the Band’

In 2019, Aubrey O’Day opened up about her experience with Diddy while on MTV. Making the band in the early 2000s.

While speaking with Variety, O’Day said he saw behavior from the famous rapper that he believes he wouldn’t get away with now.

“Diddy is a father, so I hope he’s learning things about the way women are treated,” Aubrey O’Day said at the time. “And now he has more compassion for women.”

O’Day and Diddy notably had a “difficult relationship” during the hit series. Diddy had kicked her and her bandmate Wanita D. Woods out of Danity Kane in 2008. The other three bandmates, Dawn Richard, Aundrea Fimbres and Shannon Bex, continued until the group’s dissolution.

“Puff is very difficult to work with,” said Aubrey O’Day. “Everything had to be perfect. I remember times when he would look at my toenails and say, ‘What’s your third toe doing?’ Go fix that s— before you enter a room.’”

“Or we’d be in rehearsals doing an hour-and-a-half performance over and over again and he’d come in for five minutes with a camera and say, ‘Aubrey, why are you sweating?’ You look like a wet dog. You’re the hot one, do you think anyone wants to see that?’”

O’Day went on to add that she and her bandmates were “scared to death” of what would happen to Diddy each day.
