At least 6 people still missing after the Baltimore bridge collapse

As search efforts continue, at least six people are missing following the devastating Baltimore bridge collapse.

Coast Guard officials confirmed to ABC News that while search efforts are underway for the six missing, two people have been rescued from the icy water. This includes one who was hospitalized. They have since been discharged.

However, it was confirmed that the other person was in very serious condition and was taken to a nearby hospital.

Maryland Governor Wes Moore also confirmed that construction workers were on the bridge working on potholes at the time of the Baltimore bridge collapse.

“Hearing the words that Key Bridge has collapsed is shocking and heartbreaking,” Moore shared. “What we are seeing today is not only unprecedented, it is heartbreaking.”

Moore also claimed that the collapse was an accident and the FBI noted that there is nothing to suggest the collapse was related to terrorism.

The Francis Scott Key Bridge was struck by a freighter in the early hours of Tuesday, March 26. The accident caused the famous Baltimore Bridge to collapse almost immediately.

In videos capturing the accident, many can see cars on the bridge just seconds before the ship’s devastating impact.

It was reported that a harbor pilot and an assistant on board the Sinagpore-flagged cargo ship Dali had reported power problems and triggered multiple alarms on the bridge. The ship suffered a loss of propulsion just before hitting the bridge.

All personnel on the freighter have been accounted for. There were also no injuries reported among those on board.
