Ashley Judd reflected on the cost of standing up for her morals.
The 55-year-old actress said she lost multiple jobs, including one she described as “big” and life-changing, as a result of speaking out against Donald Trump and expressing support for victims of sexual violence.
Ashley was one of many celebrities who took the stage at the Clinton Global Initiative on Monday (September 18) to reaffirm their dedication to expressing their beliefs.

“Male sexual violence is what we will not tolerate and, for me, it’s just the hill I’m willing to die on,” Ashley said, via The Hollywood Reporter. “I have seen too much agony, too many souls destroyed and too many women controlled and repressed as farmers, public officials, contributors to their community because they could not plan and space the births of their children because when they introduce family planning, they beat them or use them for doing housework, fetching water, cooking and cleaning, while their children eat more than them.”
Ashley professed “love” for boys despite critics calling her a “man-hater.” She stressed that she opposes the “boys will be boys” mentality and prefers to hold them accountable for their misdeeds.
“And frankly, I’m tired of the emphasis on building resilience in girls and women because we have to look up and see where this need for resilience comes from,” she continued.
The actress said she receives hate on social media and felt that many people had stopped supporting her. She also affected her professionally, revealing that she “lost a big job” after quoting the former president at the Women’s March.
“I summoned the president. He said it and was chosen. I cited him, I was fired and I lost income that would have changed my life,” he reflected.
