Arpinder Singh or Bobby was born on 30 December 1992 in Harsh Chhina, Amritsar, Punjab, India. He has made his mark in athletics not only at the national but also at the world level. With hard work and dedication, he has climbed the ladder with a lot of silverware to boast about. Arpinder, who started out as a 100m sprinter, shifted to triple jump on the recommendation of his coach in school. He then gave trials for the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Ludhiana, where he was selected, but only as a day scholar. He could not get any scholarship and all the financial expenses fell on his head.
Although in an interview he said that all this happened for the good. In 2009, he won the Youth National Games which was very helpful in improving his financial condition. In 2010, he won the School National Games which was the beginning of his career rise. He has always given credit for his victories to his mentors and coaches.
