Apoorva Shukla is a Supreme Court lawyer. She came into limelight when it was revealed that she had murdered her husband by strangulation and suffocation. She has been the President of the Youth Wing of the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC).

Apoorva Shukla is from Indore, Madhya Pradesh. He received his primary education from SICA Senior Secondary School, Indore. He also received his higher education from a college in Indore. She met her husband Rohit Shekhar Tiwari in 2017 in Lucknow through a matrimonial website. They started dating and were in a live-in relationship for a year. They separated in January 2018; When Rohit told his mother that he did not want to marry Apoorva at all, but finally, they decided to get married in April 2018 with mutual consent. They were married on 11 May 2018. There was tension in their married life since the day of marriage and within a month of marriage, fights started taking place between them. Apoorva completed her schooling and college from Indore, and she started practicing law at Indore High Court in 2015. In 2016, she went to the Supreme Court of India to continue her practice.

Controversy
On 15 April 2019, Rohit was returning to his home in New Delhi from Uttarakhand; Where he had gone with his mother, sister-in-law and some employees to vote for the general elections. Apurva video called Rohit at 5:30 that evening and saw him drinking alcohol in the back seat of the car with his sister-in-law; Due to which she became furious. Upon returning, she confronts Rohit and questions his close relationship with his sister-in-law. Rohit assures her that nothing wrong is happening, and she dismisses the argument. He was very drunk and could not speak or walk properly; He was taking support of the wall to walk. Apoorva became so angry that when Rohit left, she pounced on him. Since Rohit was drunk, he could not resist the attack and fell on the bed; He was also weak due to his bypass heart surgery, which he had undergone a year earlier.
Apurva strangled him with her bare hands and then placed a pillow over his face; To stop his screams and within minutes Rohit died. After he died, Apoorva realized what she had done and started wandering around the room in panic. She cleaned the room and erased all the evidence and left the room at 2 am. Next morning, Rohit’s employee Golu went to his room, thought he was sleeping and left. Rohit’s mother kept calling her, but every time Apoorva told her not to bother Rohit; Like he was sleeping.
At 3:30 in the afternoon, Golu went to Rohit’s room to wake him up; But it was found that his nose was bleeding. They immediately informed Rohit’s mother and she took an ambulance to his house. They took him to Max Specialty Hospital in Saket; Where he was declared dead. His body was sent to AIIMS for post-mortem. Doctors found that she died of asphyxia due to strangulation and strangulation. A case was registered under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code and the police was informed.
They took the statements of Rohit’s mother and Apoorva and the body was cremated. Police found many irregularities in Apoorva’s statement. He was arrested on 24 April 2019 for questioning and after changing his statement several times, he confessed to the crime.
