Anoop Khanna was born on Thursday, 21 August 1958 (age 62 years; as in 2020) in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh. His zodiac sign is Leo.
To ensure that he got the best education, his parents sent him to Dakpathar, a town near Dehradun in Uttarakhand. She did her schooling from Asha Ram Vedic Inter College, Vikasnagar, Dehradun. In 1978, he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Hindu College Moradabad, affiliated to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University.

grandma’s kitchen
On 21 August 2015, she founded ‘Dadi Ki Rasoi’, an initiative to provide good quality food to the common man. The initiative started when his mother decided to give away leftover food to the needy. They started by cooking and feeding 15-20 people a day and by 2020, under this initiative, they feed 500-1000 people a day. The name translates as ‘Grandma’s Kitchen’ and was given by her daughter Sakshi after her grandmother decided to help the needy. They take Rs. Rs 5 per person for food. When asked in an interview why he doesn’t give it away for free, Anoop said,
A nominal fee is charged to respect the dignity of everyone and not treat them like beggars.
Grandma’s Kitchen is located at Shop No. 39 Block I, Ganga Shopping Complex, Sector 29, Noida, Uttar Pradesh 201301. This initiative runs on the motto,
Food, clothes and medicine”
Later, Anoop also started Sadbhavna Store under this initiative, where the needy can get clothes, shoes, books and many other items for just Rs. 10.
He has also enrolled himself in ‘Pradhanmantri Jan Aushadhi Yojana’ and opened the first ‘Pradhanmantri Jan Aushadhi Kendra’ in Noida. The center ensures that everyone gets quality medicine at affordable prices. Initially, he invested Rs 30,000 for the setup, but as word reached people’s ears, he started receiving donations. When asked how he manages to feed so many people with so little money, he said,
Shopkeepers give me raw materials at discounted prices. Many residents donate special food on special occasions like birthdays, wedding anniversaries etc. Their support has been immense.”
In 2004, when the state was hit by massive floods, he helped the Barabanki and Purnia districts of Bihar with trucks loaded with relief material. During the India Against Corruption protests in 2011, he extended his full support to Anna Hazare and the India Against Corruption movement. He united people to participate in the anti-corruption movement and also sat on a fast in support of Anna for 12 days in Noida. Anoop is the president of the District Student Parents Association in Noida and works for the betterment of the education system. He was even part of the larger movement launched against excessive fee hike in private schools. He also conducts mock drills to prepare the children for any situation. In 2013, he helped the needy people in Kedarnath during the severe floods that hit North India. He is part of the Sports Development Institute, which has organized many sports events to promote sports in Noida.
He promotes and encourages students in the field of sports, especially karate, badminton and athletic sports. He has also actively campaigned to encourage voting in elections.
