Researcher

Claims by Anuj Dhar against the Government’s theories of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose’s death

Anuj Dhar unravelled several theories about Netaji’s death, and took out claims that he holds against them.

Theory I

It is said that Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose died in a plane crash in Taihoku, now known as Taiwan, because the engine caught fire. After the crash, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was shifted to the Army Hospital of Taihoku. In the hospital, he went into Coma first and then died on 18 August 1945, before India got Independence from the Britishers. His ashes were kept safe in the Renkoji temple in Japan.

Claim I

After the research gathered from the Taiwanian Government mailed to Anuj Dhar about the death mystery, Anuj Dhar concluded that from 4 August to 25 October 1945, no plane crashed in Taiwan, which disrupts the theory that Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose died in a plane crash in August 1945. Indian government appointed retired Supreme Court judge Manoj Kumar Mukherjee to inquire about Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s death in 1999, and the conclusion was as same as Anuj Dhar claimed.

Theory II

The other theory states that Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose died in Russia, and under the command of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, he was killed by Joseph Stalin, the Political leader of the Soviet Union.

Claim II

As per the research, Anuj Dhar claimed that Joseph Stalin, the Political leader of the Soviet Union abused Jawaharlal Nehru by calling him a ‘Political Prostitute’. It shows his hatred towards Jawaharlal Nehru, and is obvious that this theory holds up no evidence.

Theory III

The third theory denies Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s death in 1945. Instead, the theory says he lived till 1985 in India, but he never came to light. He used to live by the name of Gumnami Baba who died in 1985 in Ayodhya. This theory is also known as the Bhagwanji theory.

Claim III

Anuj Dhar is in favour of the Bhagwanji theory and claims that Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose lived in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh by the name Gumnami Baba in Ayodhya, and died on 16 September 1985.

Facts/Trivia

  • Anuj Dhar’s research is justified by the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court, and stamped as ‘genuine and based on relevant material’.
  • In March 2016, 50 files from 1956 to 2009 records were declassified including 10 from the PMO, 10 from MHA, and 30 from MEA. The declassification of files started on his 119th birth anniversary, on 23 January 2016 by PM Modi.
  • Leonard A. Gordon, who wrote a biography of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose wrote a critical note on Anuj Dhar in a postscript of his book ‘Brothers Against the Raj,’ and alleged that Anuj Dhar used the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s death mystery for Indian political purposes and his self-interests.
  • In 2018, Anuj Dhar shared a morphed photo of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose reading the news in a newspaper about his own death.
  • In an interview, Anuj Dhar said that he is not a devotee of Netaji, but found it worthwhile to research about, and is still trying to make the Indian Government expose all the documents related to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s death.
  • In an interview, Anuj Dhar highlighted all the investigations done by the government. In 1956, the first committee, the Shah Nawaz Committee, was formed to investigate the death of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. But without enough evidence, it concluded the plane crash on 18 August 1945 was a death reason. In 1999, the Supreme Court of India appointed Manoj Kumar Mukherjee to inquire about the death of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. In the year 2005, the Mukherjee Committee rejected the plane crash theory, and asked for a DNA test of the ashes. The test reports said that the ashes were of a Japanese soldier, Ichiro Okura. However, the Government of India refused the report the whole investigation. In his book, India’s Biggest Cover-up, he clearly wrote,

On 18 May 2006, the Justice Mukherjee Commission of Inquiry report was placed before Parliament with a single-page Memorandum of Action Taken Report signed by Home Minister Shivraj Patil. Even a school report card would have been far more detailed.”

  •  Anuj Dhar’s book, “Your Prime Minister is Dead” (2018) is the first-ever elaborative study of the Lal Bahadur Shastri’s death mystery. Before writing this book, Anuj Dhar provided his contribution with knowledge, and research inputs for the film ‘The Tashkent Files’ (2019) produced by Vivek Agnihotri.
  • Anuj Dhar’s book Conundrum: Subhas Bose’s Life After Death (2019), which was co-authored with Chandrachur Ghose, is said to be turned into a film led by Be Bengali superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee, and produced by national award-winning filmmaker Srijit Mukherjee.
  • In an interview, when asked about allegations of snooping and disclosing files, Anuj Dhar stated,

I feel that the government must stop celebrating Nehru’s birthday. I would instead like to suggest that the government must rename the National Technical Research Organisation after Nehru. He was a master at snooping. I must add here that I have seen the Mi5 files and can say that they are on par with the ones that were released in West Bengal. All that the government did was snoop on Bose’s family.”
