Anthony Hopkins says his roles in ‘Thor’ movies were a ‘pointless performance’

Anthony Hopkins talks about his role as Odin in the thor movies, calling them “useless” acting.

The 85-year-old Oscar winner, who played Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleton’s Nordic godfather in a trio of thor movies, spoke frankly The New Yorker about his role.

In the film, Anthony says the filmmakers “put armor on me; [and] “They gave me a beard.”

“Sit on the throne, shout a little,” he continued. “If you’re sitting in front of a green screen, there’s no point in acting like that.”

Anthony’s comments echo those of Sir Ian McKellen, who also spoke of how miserable he felt while working primarily with green screens for The Hobbit.

“I felt miserable,” he says. “It may be my impression, but I don’t remember a green screen in The Lord of the rings. If Gandalf were on the top of a mountain, I would be there, on the mountain. The technology was being invented while we were making the film. [In The Lord of the Rings] I wasn’t involved in any of that, I was acting on a mountain. I don’t usually remember the bad times, but I don’t think there were any. “I think I enjoyed every moment of making those movies.”

In a recent interview, Anthony also revealed that he was almost on the verge of retirement before. thor.
