Anne Heche remains in critical condition following her accident in early 2022. Heche crashed into a house in Los Angeles, starting a fire that burned down the house and the actor. A statement from her spokeswoman refuted earlier reports that she was in stable condition. The statement said:
“He has always remained in critical condition, going into a coma after the accident. He has significant lung injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns requiring surgical intervention. She is currently being treated at the Grossman Burn Center.”
Reports indicate that Anne is under investigation for hit and run and a misdemeanor DUI.
Heche considered Harrison Ford a hero for casting him, as other studios turned him down.
Anne Heche’s appearance opposite Harrison Ford in the 1998 romantic comedy Six Days, Seven Nights might not have happened without Ford’s intervention.
Heche claimed that she almost lost her part in the movie after opening up about her relationship with Ellen DeGeneres. Anne went against the advice of her and Ellen’s friends by bringing the comedian as her date to the Volcano premiere. he said entertainment tonight that the decision negatively affected his career:
“I was in a relationship with Ellen DeGeneres for three and a half years and the stigma attached to that relationship was so bad that I got fired from my multi-million dollar movie contract and didn’t work on a studio movie for 10 years.”
The filmmakers of six days seven nights he told Anne that she would lose the part if she took Ellen to the premiere. However, Ford called her and assured her that she would play Robin in the movie. Heche said:
“He said, ‘Frankly, dear, I don’t give a damn who you sleep with. We’re going to make the best romantic comedy there is, and we’ll see you on the set. He is one of my heroes. He fought a battle for me, and I’d be on any deserted island with him any day. He is an extraordinary human being”.
Anne landed the part thanks to Ford, but had to settle for a reduced payday. she said in the Trade Secrets with Jason Tartick Podcast:
“I think for Six Days, Seven Nights, I made $125,000 for four months of filming. And Harrison did, and I know because I used to make fun of him, he made $20 million and 12 points on the first dollar earned on the movie.”
Heche’s numbers are likely inaccurate, but the pay gap between star salaries was huge. However, he did not hold a grudge against Harrison and reiterated that he considers him a hero:
“I just want to say this and the reason I feel comfortable saying this to anyone who will listen, Harrison Ford is truly my hero. I have paid tribute to him because the truth is that I owe him my public life”.
“I owe him the opportunity to continue speaking at this level. It’s not that I hadn’t continued to convert and be the advocate that I am. But the platform that gave me that, I mean, when you say ‘talk about worthwhile things’, it’s worth many more millions of dollars than anything I could have done.”
