Anna Nicole Smith’s daughter Dannielynn Birkhead turned heads at the 150th Kentucky Derby, proving that style runs in the family. The 17-year-old, who has attended the famous race annually with her father, Larry Birkhead, since 2010, wore a striking red belted dress with spectacular ruffled sleeves.
Dannielynn stunned in a feather headdress, her hair styled in a long wavy bob after an impromptu haircut, Birkhead revealed, posting photos with her daughter before the Kentucky Derby.
The young woman had worn her old hair down on Friday, joining Birkhead at the Barnstable Brown Gala.

“On my way to @kentuckyderby with Dannielynn after a great night at the Barnstable-Brown Gala and a quick morning haircut or two,” Birkhead wrote along with a carousel of images from the event on their joint Instagram account and the of his daughter on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Birkhead reluctantly added a detail that revealed Dannielynn’s geeky streak. “Dannielynn’s dress was inspired by his favorite character, Hino Eiji, combo Kamen Rider OOO TaJaDor; “She made me write that, because that character had the same shoulders as the design of the dress she found!”
He continued, “Hey, whatever works, I’m just trying to spend some quality time as this weekend of traditions comes to an end…”
Hino Eiji is a superhero and the main character of the Japanese series Kamen Rider OOO. In a carousel of snaps shared by Birkhead, Dannielynn posed with a Hino Eji action figure.

On Friday, Birkhead also revealed photos with Dannielynn before attending the Barnstable Brown Gala. Dannielynn shined in a black Gianfranco Ferre dress once worn by Janet Jackson, paired with a silver choker and black combat boots. Meanwhile, Birkhead opted for a sophisticated look in a gray suit paired with a black tie.
“On my way to the Barnstable-Brown Gala for the start of the @kentuckyderby weekend. Dannielynn is wearing her second @janetjackson outfit to the party I got at Janet’s @juliens_auctions charity auction,” Birkhead noted in her Instagram post.
He added, “We are looking forward to a fun weekend at Derby with the newly graduated high school student!”
The Barnstable Brown Gala is special to Birkhead and marks the place where she met Smith 21 years ago. They crossed paths in 2003; Birkhead was a freelance photographer and Smith was filming her reality show. The Anna Nicole Show Forward!.
Sadly, Anna Nicole Smith died in 2007 at age 39, leaving behind her daughter Dannielynn, who was only 5 months old.
