Anita Dongre was born on Thursday, 3 October 1963 (age 56 years; as in 2019) in Bandra, West Mumbai. His zodiac sign is Libra. His family roots are in Jaipur. Anita’s father had moved to Mumbai just a few months before her birth. She was attracted towards fashion from a very young age. She was inspired by the women in her family who made beautiful things using raw clothes. He graduated in commerce from NM College, Mumbai. After this, Dongre took admission in SNDT University, Mumbai to pursue a degree in fashion. Later, he interned with the former royal family of Dhrangadhra, Gujarat.

After completing her graduation, Anita Dongre started designing clothes for local boutiques. They supplied clothes to boutiques for about 12 years. After a few years, Anita began experimenting with western wear and created a clothing collection for young women, but, no store was ready to accept it. So, that’s when she decided to sell them herself and Anita Dongre Designs was born. She started the business with her younger sister Meena Sehra in 1995 from a small area of 300 square feet. Her fashion house, House of Anita Dongre, shelters four different brands, namely, AND (Western wear), Global Desi (Ethnic wear), Anita Dongre (Bridal, Couture Pret, Menswear), and Anita Dongre Grassroots ( organic clothes). Apart from apparel brands, Anita has also launched a jewelery brand named “Pink City” under her fashion house.
