Anil Kapoor was born on 24 December 1956 (age 62; as in 2018) in Bombay, India. He went to Our Lady of Perpetual Succour High School, Mumbai. After finishing school, he went to St Xavier’s College but was expelled for short attendance. In his college days, he acted in plays and participated in competitions. Anil Kapoor was not born with a silver spoon. He, along with his seven family members, lived in a single room in the suburb of Chembur in Mumbai; as his father was still struggling in the film industry. His childhood revolved around Bollywood. Since childhood, he knew that he wanted to enter the glamour world. When he was 12 years old, he acted in a movie; which did not release.

Career
Anil made his debut in the Hindi film industry in 1979 with a cameo role in “Hamare Tumhare.” It was only after much struggle that Anil Kapoor was able to bag a lead role in the 1983-release “Wo Saat Din.”
It was only, in 1984, after the release of movies like “Mashaal” and “Meri Jung” that Anil became a well-known face in the film fraternity.
Anil Kapoor gained instant stardom after the success of his film “Mr. India;” in which he worked alongside his sister-in-law Sridevi.
“Pukar” was the turning point in his life as he received a total of five Filmfare awards and also a National Film Institute Best Actor award for his role in it. Subsequently, he was one of the biggest names in Indian cinema.
Besides acting, he has also produced “Badhaai Ho Badhaai” (2002) and “Gandhi, My Father.”
Apart from acting in a number of Bollywood movies, Anil Kapoor also appeared in the British movie, “Slumdog Millionaire.” The movie went on to win four Golden Globe awards and received ten Oscar nominations.
In 2010, he appeared in the American television series “24.”
In 2011, he appeared in yet another Hollywood movie “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol.”
